Animal cruelty is so sickening!

by Mary Anne

My sister sent me a copy of her local newspaper, and there was a story in it about couple that has been charged with 84 counts of animal cruelty. According to the story the charges claim that they abandoned over a dozen dogs and other animals in their rented house when they moved out.

No one is sure exactly when the tenants vacated the home, but when authorities were notified by the landlord that they house appeared to be deserted with a large number of animals locked inside, the authorities discovered that the house was uninhabitable, had no furniture in it, and no food or water was left for the animals locked inside.

I hope that they throw the book at the perpetrators!  People like that should not be allowed to own any kind of pets.

Daylight savings time

by Mary Anne

Geez, it is hard to get used to changing the clocks, and changing our routines from Standard time to Daylight time and back again!  I wish they would just pick one time and stick with it!  My poor body just cannot adapt the way it used to!  And our pets NEVER adapt, they want to go out at the same time, regardless of what the clock says.  And they want to eat at the same time, too.

What a pain in the neck this time-changing thing is!

Making old pets comfortable

by Mary Anne

Poor Squeaky is getting so old and uncomfortable with her arthritis that I decided that we really needed to buy her a couple of memory foam dog beds to use. One in the living room, and one in the bedroom. That way she can sleep near us and be more comfortable while doing it. Unfortunately the durn cat has decided that he wanted to use them as supplemental kitty litter boxes, and after several attempts to clean them appropriately and prevent the cat from repeatedly soiling them, we determined that we needed to replace them with waterproof/weatherproof orthopedic dog beds.

Our hope was that the waterproof dog beds would be able to be washed off easily enough for the odor to be eliminated, but that was not to be. After a couple of weeks of constantly cleaning those dog beds, we ended up just putting them outside in the hope that the sun and the rain would deodorize them.
You may suggest that we “get rid of “ the cat, and although we did discuss that as an alternative solution, his advancing age was also something we had to consider.

Keeping it safe

by Mary Anne

When I found out that Charlie had gotten a guitar for Christmas, I immediately knew that I wanted to get him a guitar wall mount for his birthday next month. With all of the cats and dogs he has running around his house, I’m pretty sure that he is going to want to store the guitar up off of the floor to keep it protected from the dangers of a run-in with any of the four-legged critters.
