Picking a web hosting company when you are using joomla CMS is not as difficult as you might think it could be. I have been reading a little bit about joomla, and have been trying to decide if I want to use joomla in the future, or stick with WordPress. One of the things to consider when making a decision like that is which hosting company supports joomla. According to the joomla website, the hostgator joomla web hosting service appears to be the most reasonably priced service.
Animal cruelty is so sickening!
by Mary AnneMy sister sent me a copy of her local newspaper, and there was a story in it about couple that has been charged with 84 counts of animal cruelty. According to the story the charges claim that they abandoned over a dozen dogs and other animals in their rented house when they moved out.
No one is sure exactly when the tenants vacated the home, but when authorities were notified by the landlord that they house appeared to be deserted with a large number of animals locked inside, the authorities discovered that the house was uninhabitable, had no furniture in it, and no food or water was left for the animals locked inside.
I hope that they throw the book at the perpetrators! People like that should not be allowed to own any kind of pets.
Solar is made easy
by Mary AnneEarlier today I was reading an article titled “solar is made easy” and it got me really excited about the future of solar energy. For as long as I can remember I have been an advocate for harnessing the potential clean sources of energy such as wind power and solar energy. Unfortunately I have never been wealthy enough to be able to afford to retrofit my existing home with these newer technologies, but I am hopeful that as time passes the technologies will decrease in price (as it always does) and that I will be able to either retrofit my home with these types of technologies or buy a different house that utilizes them.
These new technologies are very important to me because they will help us to slow down the pollution that we contribute to the ever-growing pollution problem. Ever since I can remember the teachers in my schools have been encouraging their students to reduce, reuse and recycle, and find ways to promote the conservation of our planet. Sometimes I wish that I had been able to go to college to get a degree in conservation and make my living in that field; I feel so strongly that too many people are trashing our planet. When solar energy becomes mainstream, I think it will be a great leap forward in preserving our planet!
Run rabbit run!
by Mary AnneLately everywhere I drive it appears that I am seeing rabbits running across the road. Last month the rabbits were still wearing their white winter coats, and now they have changed to their summer coats of brown. I am glad to see that their coats have changed, because we did not have a lot of snow last month, and their white coats made them “sitting ducks” for any critter out there that was looking for a meal. Now when I drive up to the house instead of seeing a large flash of white hopping across the yard, I see just a little bit of a white cotton tail hopping across the yard. Seeing rabbits or deer in my yard always bring a smile to my face, but it also makes me glad that I’m not a farmer trying to protect my crops from these cute little varmints!
Vandalism is senseless
by Mary AnneWhen Toney and Tanisha moved in next door we were glad that the house next door was finally occupied again. More than once we had found ourselves notifying the police that squatters had moved in were vandalizing the place. The handsome personalized address plaques that Marty and Sasha had installed just a few short months ago had been spray painted over, and used for target practice on more than one occasion. Hearing gun shots in the middle of the day coming from the house next door was very unnerving, I’ll tell you that!
Prior to meeting Marty and Sasha, I had never seen custom address plaques as pretty as theirs were. When we had moved in here and met them I remember asking them where they had bought their residential address plaques because I wanted to buy some just like them for my mother’s house and give them to her as a gift to replace the old plaques that had faded and rotted out over the many decades that she has lived in her house. Vandalism is such a senseless act; I don’t think I’ll ever understand how destroying someone elses property brings pleasure or fulfillment to anyone.
