Romantic dreaming

by Mary Anne

I can remember when I was a little girl, that my life was filled with fantasies about going to elaborate high class events where all of the women wore full-length evening dresses and lots of bling.  Sometimes I think that the Barbie doll is to blame for those fantasies.  The closest I ever got to something like that was my high school prom.  It was a lot of fun, though; all of my girl friends were dressed in their formal prom dresses, and the men were wearing their rented tuxes.

I have a lot of friends that go on cruises and they tell me that they have to take a couple of formal dresses on the cruise because there are some formal dinners that are held.  I have to admit that I feel just a wee bit jealous when they tell me about how much fun they all had, and show me their photographs of their trip.  I don’t know if I would ever go on a real cruise, however.  I’m a paranoid type and I probably would be scared to pieces the entire time.  After all, I’m a Virgo, and Virgos are “earth” signs! And “earth signs like to keep their feet firmly planted on the ground at all times!

Drinking more milk

by Mary Anne

Over the past couple of months I’ve noticed that my heartburn has gotten worse and worse. It was surprising to me because I’ve been trying harder and harder to eat healthier – which means more fruit and vegetables. I was thinking that the heartburn was being caused by fat in the meat and dairy products that I had been eating. And yet it seems that the more fruit and veggies I eat the worse the heartburn has gotten.

So I did a little bit of research on the Internet and it appears that the fruits and veggies I’ve been eating are so acidic that it has made my heartburn worse instead of better. I’ve decided to try to temper that by drinking more milk. I’m hoping that the milk will help to coat my stomach so that the acidity of the fruits & veggies doesn’t hurt me. I really don’t know what else to do!

Garden scaping

by Mary Anne

My hubby has been spending a lot of time this early spring planning his new garden.  I’ve never seen him get so engrossed in a project like this one!   I think that he was inspired by that flower show that we went to last month.  He’s already been pulling out the Adirondack chairs and Picnic Tables from the storage shed and giving them a good cleaning.  He asked me to help him with the project (which means the cleaning part) and I was glad to oblige until I discovered a couple of fresh wasp nests underneath the Park Benches when I went to pick one up and move it.

The last time I was stung by a wasp my hand was swollen for two weeks!  I have a very healthy respect for those things, and although I don’t run and scream from them, when I see a nest I let my hubby deal with it while I walk away.  I know he gets a kick out of dealing with those kinds of things; it makes him feel all macho, so I’m more than happy to let him enjoy his masculinity that way.

The pink dogwoods are blooming

by Mary Anne

Today I noticed while driving home from work that the dogwoods are blooming around town.  They are in full bloom in town, but only started at my house, so I guess my house is in a micro-climate of its own!  I especially adore the pink dogwoods; I only have white dogwoods at home.  When I get the chance to buy a pink one or two, I will definitely do exactly that! Note to self – hint at hubby to buy pink dogwood for Mother’s Day gift!

A moving experience

by Mary Anne

It just doesn’t seem like it was seven years ago that I told my hubby that it looked like my dream of Moving To Virginia to be back near my family was finally going to come true.  Our kids were finally done with the public school system and going off to college, and there was nothing holding us back from abandoning the snow and ice of New England for better weather.

Before long I was looking up as many Virginia Moving Companies as I could find, trying to find one that would present us with the best possible service and price. I was quite surprised to find dozens of Virginia Movers that I could compare prices and services. I even found some Virginia International Movers that would have been more than happy to help us move out of the country!  I have to admit that moving was a lot more work and money than I had remembered from the previous move I had to do back in 1993!  Can you say sticker shock?
