A learning process

by Mary Anne

When my first hubby and I started our family, we decided that we should put some of our savings in IRA Accounts, and invest some in Stock Trading.  The first stock I decided I wanted to buy was Disney Stock.  I just wanted to own a piece of Disney Magic of my own!  I can remember that the broker we used advised us against buying Disney, but I was stubborn and insisted that he buy it for us.  I’m glad that I was stubborn because Disney stock has actually done quite well.

As soon as I found out that I could manage my investments through Online Trading I started using the Internet to manage my stock investments.  I was tired of hearing my broker tell me that what I wanted to do wasn’t a good idea.  For the most part the stock that I’ve bought has done well.  And I like the convenience of dealing in real time.

Say what?

by Mary Anne

I’ve been having problems with my sinuses and ears since October 2 and I’ve been going to doctors and more doctors, and finally they sent me to an ENT two months ago.  I’ve seen him about four times, each time complaining about my ears – they feel “full” and I can’t hear as well as I used to – in fact I feel that I can hardly hear at all!  I’ve complained about that A LOT at every visit, and every visit he has “looked in” my ears and said they were fine.

Well today was a follow up appointment and he asked how I was doing and I said that my sinuses felt a “little better” but I was still not happy with my ears.  He acted as if he had never heard me even mention my ears before!

Long story short, he had his audiologist run some tests.  (Last April I had my hearing tested and it was considered “exceptional.”)  This audiologist says that I have significant hearing loss in both ears, and permanent irreversible nerve damage in both ears that will only get worse over time!  I am NOT HAPPY!

My day off is in the kitchen

by Mary Anne

One of the things that upsets me the most about having to work full time is the fact that it takes me away from my beloved house. If I could afford to stay home full time I would do it in a heartbeat! When I do have a day off from work I spend much of that day in my kitchen, playing with my favorite kitchen appliances. I keep busy using them to prepare my favorite comfort food. Early on in the day I’ll put a chicken or a pork roast in the crock pot and start a fresh loaf of french bread in the bread machine.

Then I’ll try to spend a little bit of time looking through my vast cookbook collection and pick out one new dish I’d like to try for the next weekend so I can add the ingredients to my shopping list. I like a little bit of a variety so we don’t get bored with eating the same things over and over again.  I try to pick one that won’t take a lot of time to prepare; if I spent hours fixing it and then ended up hating it I’d be really upset!

What a riot!

by Mary Anne

I was browsing around YouTube earlier today and stumbled on some really funny videos made by a guy who calls himself edbassmaster. When I watched this particular video I laughed so hard I almost fell off my chair! Seriously, my sides hurt from laughing so much! I don’t know why this kind of silliness gets to me! I hope you get a chuckle of it it too!

Local vandalisms

by Mary Anne

I was reading in the local newspaper yesterday that three youths have been arrested and charged with malicious vandalism because they have been blowing up several residential mailboxes in the past few weeks.  Apparently they had rigged up some kind of explosive in side a soda bottle and it would explode when the unsuspecting victim would try to open their mailbox to retrieve/put in their mail.

Fortunately no one was seriously injured, but just the fact that this has been happening locally has got me thinking that maybe we should look into buying a locking mailbox for our place.  I’ve already been annoyed several times recently when I’d get home from work and find the door hanging wide open and the mail inside soaking wet.  Getting one that locks would resolve that issue, and protect us from that kind of vandalism.
