My youngest son is staying in Philadelphia this summer, doing a college internship job. My oldest son has never been to Philadelphia and expressed an interest in living there someday. So last weekend I sent him off to spend the weekend with my youngest. He took the train to Philly, which worked out wonderfully well. If I ever send him up there again I will definitely send him by train! He went up Friday afternoon and came home Monday afternoon. They saw some sights, ate some good food and watched a few movies. They both said they had a good time, and I was glad to have them spend some time alone together.
Gas prices continue to increase
by Mary AnneWith Hurricane Ike bearing down on the Gulf Coast, the price of gas is going up again. It seems lately that any and everything seems to be an excuse to raise the price of gas! I understand that there is concern that the refineries might be damaged and that will cause an oil/gas shortage. I sure wish that “we” (and by “we” I mean this country) would aggressively pursue finding other sources of energy so we could end our dependency on fossil fuels forever! I think that what the American consumer is going through over gasoline prices is simply highway robbery!
Rock Painting
by Mary Anne
Last time my sister came for a visit, we drove into the city and signed up for a rock painting class at the craft store. The teacher was a well known artist and I have all of her books at home.

She brought a good supply of river rocks from her home in Missouri, and the store provided the paints and brushes. We only had 2 hours to listen to the short lecture and then roll up our sleeves and paint, but we had a good time and the rocks turned out OK – for amateurs!
