How Are You?

I love to hear an original phrase or creative response to the everyday mundane questions and expressions. Like, “How are you doing?”

Most people say “Fine.” But that’s so boring.

Hubby answers in his most New Jersey accent, “Good. How YOU doin’?” Which is a stretch for him because he’s never even BEEN to New Jersey except driving through on the way to our condo in Florida. That phoney accept and response usually gets a smile from even the jaded government workers.

Around here people are more likely to ask, “How are you?” rather than “How you doing?”

When people here call you on the phone, the first thing they say after you answer with “Hello” is, “What are you doing?” I say “I’m talking to you, what you YOU doing?”.
